More details regarding our Select program coming soon, including: timelines, tryouts and structure.
Thank you again for your continued support of the Bondurant Soccer Club. The future is bright and we’re excited to take the next step together.

Q&A Recap:

When will tryouts be held?
We will announce tryout dates no later than May 1st. We are aiming to offset as many local clubs as possible to give families the opportunity to try out for multiple clubs.
Iowa Soccer dictates when tryouts can be held and when bids may be sent. Those specific dates can be found in our presentation on slide 11 or Iowa Soccer’s website.

Do we have coaches and/or a Director of coaches:
We do have a rough idea and have had some informal conversations. Coaches and Director will be announced prior to team placements - ideally by tryouts. We want to be mindful of coaches who may be in the middle of their seasons and not cause distractions to their current players and parents. The numbers of coaches we are able to employ will depend on tryouts and the amount of teams we are able to field. All coaches will be paid, experienced and licensed coaches.

How would two teams at the u11/12 divisions work?
Ideally, we would have a pool of 24 kids and the top half would form an “A” or “Gold” team with the other 12 making up the “B” or “Silver” team. Both teams would receive the same level of coaching and teams would be fluid as far as moving between them. Forming an A and B team also allows us to enter tournaments in more appropriate brackets. We will do our best to work with Iowa Soccer on scheduling regular season games, hoping to pair our A/B teams with appropriate levels of competition. We know that confidence builds competence and want to place kids where they will grow best.

What if tryout numbers aren’t high enough to field multiple or full teams?
We will not field a team (or two) if the numbers are not there.  We will not be sacrificing our rec program to fill rosters.

Will BSC continue to create teams based on birth year?
No, BSC is switching to grade level teams, to align with US Soccer.

With the switch to grade level, will BSC permit play up requests?
You are welcome to attend tryouts at any division you would like. There may be opportunities to play up during the regular season as well.

BSC Select Soccer Announcement - 3/11/26

Soccer clubs act as a community and area anchor, bringing people together regardless of age, race and background. For years the Bondurant Soccer Club (BSC) Board has worked to foster a love for the game of soccer and we have seen that work pay off through tremendous growth within our club. Our club proudly provides an introduction to organized sports, which positively influences social and physical development.

Three years ago, BSC began an Academy program, as a pathway for players interested in continuing on to Select soccer. We have seen great success within our Academy program, thanks to our dedicated Board of Directors, coaching staff, and families. We are excited to announce that the growth and stability of our Academy program has led us to the final step in player development - competitive Select programming. A full player pathway.

We are excited to bring competitive based programming to Bondurant - with the goal of serving members of BSC as well as neighboring towns across Central Iowa.

SAVE THE DATE:
Please plan to join us on Sunday March 29th at 6pm, at the Bondurant Public Library for an informational Select soccer parent meeting. We are excited to share our vision and answer any questions you may have.

If you can not make the meeting, questions should be directed to [email protected]

What is Mid-Iowa Soccer Club?

Mid-Iowa Soccer Club is a tryout based, team formation program, operating under the guidance and knowledge of the Bondurant Soccer Club.  The programming offered will provide age appropriate development that is technical and tactical based.  It is our goal to provide the mental and physical development of each player, increasing their overall soccer IQ that fits within the frameworks of train > develop > compete as well as the club’s game model.  This framework is not limited to on-field demands but preparation for off-field demands, and fostering life skills and qualities for future leaders.  Our program will emphasize discipline, integrity, humility, responsibility, and courage through unwavering standards and attention to detail.

Under 11 is the Select entry age.  The U11 and U12 age groups will be technical based and provide introductions to soccer language, formation, and positional ideas.  U13 and U14 players will progress with introduction to the game model and idea, with more prevalent positional training.  U15+ players are nearing the last steps of youth development.  The programming offered for these players will be more rigorous in preparation for the next level.  When we put the attention on helping players fine tune their craft, the game is result focused. BSC will strive for courageous, intent focused players who problem solve and create solutions through autonomy and team.

Player Pathway

Bondurant Soccer Club (BSC) offers players and families the flexibility to choose the path that best fits their needs/goals as a player.

For the youngest players (U5 and up), Recreational teams offer an introduction to soccer where players will learn the basic principles and gain experience playing, led by a team of volunteer coaches. Rec soccer is an ideal entry point for those interested in being introduced to the sport, playing with friends and participating on a team. At the Rec level, teams are formed by randomizing players, meaning there will be a wider range of skill level.

At the U9-U10 level, players can continue on in Recreational or move to Academy, which focuses on developing a player’s passion for the game within a more competitive team enviornment. Families should plan on attending 2-3 structured practices per week, led by certified coaches. This is a good fit for children previously involved in soccer, who are consistently engaged with the training and game environment.

At the U11 level and above, players can choose between Recreational and Select. Select is meant to build on our Academy program - training 3x per week and playing in a higher level of competition. Select players should plan on competing in 2-3 tournaments per season. Teams are formed via tryouts. Unlike Rec, Select players are not guaranteed equal playing time. In Select, we will work towards enhancing individual players to strengthen the team and the team to strengthen the individual through play.

Players are able to move between Recreation and Academy or Rec and Select as their needs or interest change. A player interested in additional technical development and a higher level of competition can choose to move from Rec to Select. A player balancing other activities or commitments, while still wanting to play, may feel that Rec is a better fit.
